VI COMMANDO

Lt. Peter R.Cruden, formerly of the Royal Artillery and then of No.12 Commando, was posted to No.6 Commando on 11^th October 1943.

Lt. Peter Cruden was wounded in the shoulder on D-Day, shortly after landing as No.2 Section Leader of No.2 Troop of No.6 Commando, and was evacuated back to the UK, rejoining the Commando again in October 1944 at Hove, Sussex.

He had returned to the Commando and was serving as a sub-altern on, at least, 29th January 1945.

Later was promoted to Captain and became the Troop Commander of No.2 Troop of No.6 Commando, from, at least, 23rd March 1945. Peter was commended by Brig. Derek Mills-Roberts for his leadership of the attack on an enemy flak position on the outskirts of Lesse on 8th April 1945.

He was appointed as the Commando Adjutant on 6^th July 1945 .
